Who Wrote The Book Of Love?

Some other-worldly force? The aligning of the planets? An unexplainable, intangible idea?

No.

No, i think it was probably us.

Us humans. With our broken compassion and chaotic kindness.

love

noun

/lʌv/

Our children, with large eyes and larger hearts still, who love with their honesty, their curiosity and their untainted joy.

Our elderly, who show each other the purest type of love; the love that stretches past the shallow frames we call bodies and looks rather at the soul.

Our youth, wild and loud and electric in their love. Growing together and loving the people they were born to be into existence. Learning to love themselves in a world which doesn’t make that easy.

Our families, blood or not, with love unbreakable as it is indescribable.

Our friends, with wounded hearts that yearn to heal others.

Us. Us humans.

The Ancient Greeks had this theory of 8 different types of love, which i think is closer to understanding the immense concept as it is.

Each of these types had what was described as “Love Catalysts” —>

For Eros: The physical body

For Philia: The mind

For Storge: Causal (memories)

For Ludus: Astral (emotion)

For Mania: Survival instinct

For Pragma: Etheric (unconscious)

For Philautia: Soul

And for Agape: Spirit

There are all kinds of love in this world but never the same love twice.

F. Scott Fitzgerald

I’ve realized I’ve done quite a lot of writing about love (call me a hopeless romantic but at least I’m self-aware), and even published a blog post a little while go in my “Let’s talk about …” series!

You can find a link for that here: Let’s talk about Love…
